Realtek Rtl8111 Linux Driver
Aug 11, 2016. Image Source: wikipedia.org A lot of people will remember my guide how to get a RTL8111/RTL8168 running under your Linux box. This guide is almost 5 years old now and I wanted to make a complete overhaul, because a lot of things has changed since then. Why do I need this driver anyway?
I'm trying to install an Ethernet Card into my Ubuntu 14.04 desktop computer. Here is my lspci output (First one is my new ethernet card):
I also installed RTL8111 driver (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#2 which is the first one under Unix(Linux) option).
lsmod grep r816
output:
lspci -v
output:
After driver installation, I arranged the network configuration by these commands:
I know that these are temporary changes, for being permanent I should reorganize etc/network/interfaces file. But from now on I could not succeed on internet connection.
ifconfig eth3
output:
I have not much knowledge about networking but I followed the steps on README.txt file in the driver folder.Any suggestion about what could be the problem?

When I search for Windows drivers using RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express
(or other combinations) I only get Linux results.
Where can I find the Windows driver for this network card?

Otherwise, I would suggest you look up your motherboard model on the Gigabyte support website and download the ethernet driver from there.
Hope this helps.
